About the Collections

Davina was inspired to start painting local scenes shortly after the Manchester bomb in 1996. The bomb devastated part of the city and much of the unique and beautiful architecture. However, in its place came regeneration, a reminder that Manchester as a place is resilient and capable of re-inventing itself. It was important to capture both the spirit of the city, local landmarks and townscapes. Many of the pieces showcase the skyline and the Manchester sky, rich colourful buildings in contrast to the often grey and overcast backdrop.
